Templates for your LinkedIn messages
How to Use Message Templates in LinkMatch
This tutorial will guide you through setting up and using the Message Templates feature in LinkMatch to streamline your communication on LinkedIn.
What are Message Templates?
The Message Templates feature allows you to create, save, and reuse messages directly within LinkedIn. This saves you significant time, helps maintain a consistent tone in your outreach, and allows you to easily personalize your communication using automatic placeholders.
Note: This feature is available for users on the Standard and Pro subscription plans.
Step 1: Creating Your Templates
You can create templates in two convenient ways:
From the LinkMatch Options Page:
- Navigate to the LinkMatch Options Page by clicking the LinkMatch icon in your Chrome toolbar or by logging in at
linkmatch.com
. - Find the section for managing your message templates and create your new template there.
Directly from LinkedIn:
- You can also create new templates on the fly without leaving your workflow.
- When you are on the messaging page on LinkedIn, you can create and save new templates directly from there.
Step 2: Using Placeholders for Personalization
To ensure your messages are personalized for each recipient, LinkMatch uses placeholders that automatically pull information from the person's LinkedIn profile. When you send the message, these placeholders are replaced with the actual data.
The available placeholders are:
#firstname
- Inserts the person's first name.#lastname
- Inserts the person's last name.#company
- Inserts the person's current company.#currentposition
- Inserts the person's current job title.
Important: A placeholder for the person's email address is not available at this time.
Example Template:
Hi #firstname,
I came across your profile and was very impressed with your work as a #currentposition at #company.
I believe we might have some common ground in our professional interests and I would be glad to connect.
Best regards,
John Black
Step 3: Organizing and Sharing Your Templates
LinkMatch provides several tools to manage your templates efficiently, especially if you work in a team.
- Categorize Your Templates: You can group templates into categories (e.g., "Initial Outreach," "Follow-ups," "Event Invitations") to keep them organized.
- Share with Your Team: To share a set of templates, you can make an entire category Shared. This ensures everyone on your team has access to the same approved and consistent messaging.
- Assign a Shortcut: For quick access, you can assign a unique shortcut to each template.
Step 4: Using Message Templates on LinkedIn
Once your templates are configured, using them is simple. You have two options when writing a message on LinkedIn:
1. Use the "Templates" Button:
- On the LinkedIn messaging page, click the "Templates" button.
- A list of your saved templates will appear on the right side of the screen.
- Simply click the template you want to use, and it will be instantly pasted into the chat input box with all placeholders filled in.
2. Use Shortcuts:
- If you have assigned a shortcut to a template, type that shortcut into the message box.
- The corresponding template will automatically appear.
